We started Cheekbone Beauty to build something meaningful for our community, and honesty has always been part of that promise. So we want to be straightforward with you about something that affects how we do business together.
On July 20, 2026, the U.S. government announced a new 50% tariff on a range of Canadian-made goods, set to take effect August 19, 2026. Cosmetics are included on that list, and this tariff applies regardless of trade agreements already in place between our two countries.
Here is what that means in practice: for the products we manufacture here in Canada, a 50% tariff makes it financially unworkable for a business our size to keep shipping directly to the United States. We are not able to absorb that cost, and we do not think it is fair to pass a 50% price increase on to you. So starting August 19, we will be pausing direct shipping of our Canadian-made products to U.S. customers while we figure out a sustainable path forward.
For our Italian-made products, we are actively working on a third-party logistics solution that would let us reroute shipping outside of this tariff structure. We do not have a confirmed timeline yet, but we will share updates as soon as we have something solid to report.
We know this is disappointing, and honestly, it is disappointing for us too. Cheekbone Beauty was built to serve everyone who believes in what we are doing, and our U.S. community has been a real part of that from the beginning. This is not a decision driven by strategy or growth targets. It is the reality of being a small, independent, Indigenous-owned business trying to make responsible choices in a fast-changing trade environment.
What you can do right now: our Summer Shutdown Sale is on from July 29 through August 5, with 30% off full-priced items (some exclusions apply). If there are Cheekbone products you have been meaning to try or restock, now is the time.
What stays available after August 19: you can still shop Cheekbone Beauty in the U.S. through JCPenney and Amazon US. Those retail partnerships are not affected by this shift in direct shipping.
