We love our Italian manufacturers. We work with many of them, and there are some products we will likely never be able to move, because of intellectual property built into the machinery itself. Pencils are a good example. If you know beauty, you know there are very few manufacturers in the world capable of producing pencil-format products at the quality we require. A handful in Germany. The ones we work with in Italy. And, yes, manufacturing in China exists too, but it's never been part of Cheekbone Beauty's supply chain.
That context matters, because it's what makes this next part exciting.
Bringing the Illuminating Primer Home
When the Buy Canadian movement gained real momentum in January 2025, we asked ourselves a question we hadn't seriously asked before: could we make one of our products here, in Canada?
We took our Illuminating Primer formula to one of our Canadian manufacturing partners and asked them directly: is this possible?
It took longer than we expected. Reformulating a supply chain isn't simple, and we weren't willing to cut corners to speed it up. But our partner did a fabulous job, and we stayed true to the exact reasons we built this formula in the first place.
The Illuminating Primer is now made in Canada, and it's available now on our website.
Why This Formula Exists
The Illuminating Primer was built to be the perfect canvas for your skin.
If there's one thing we've learned from years of conversations with our community, it's this: hydrated skin looks the best. Not matte skin. Not heavily set skin. Hydrated skin.
So how do we stay hydrated? We drink our water. But our products need to help too, which means they actually need to contain water and the ingredients that hold onto it. That's why our Illuminating Primer is built on humectants, water, glycerin, and propanediol, all of the ingredients we know work to keep skin hydrated through the day.
